ISO 27701:2025
ISO/IEC 27701 specifies a privacy information management system (PIMS). Since the 2025 edition it is a standalone management system standard that no longer requires ISO/IEC 27001: clauses 4 to 10 set the management system requirements, and Annex A lists reference controls for PII controllers, for PII processors and for information security that both roles apply. Organizations certify against it to show customers and regulators that personal data is governed systematically, and it maps closely to the GDPR.
